Costas Dafnis is a composer and sound artist based in California. In addition to concert music he writes for theater, dance and games, lectures in film at San Francisco Art Institute and technology and composition at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

This instrument, part of Tom Nunn’s “Space Plate” series, is double-bowed to create a surreal, reverberant texture of ghostly echoes and protruding voices that takes turns blending with the string harmonies and raining shimmers of light over the percussion section perfectly complementing George Saunders’ imagined liminal landscape in Lincoln In The Bardo.
